Longs
Peak Area
Wildlife Photos
Different seasons provide different
opportunities for viewing wildlife in the Longs
Peak and Rocky Mountain National Park regions.
Some of the animals are quite common
and can be viewed throughout the spring, summer
and fall. Other animals, such as the badger,
mountain lion, red fox and the black bear are
a little more reclusive and require a little
more luck to spot.
It's not too uncommon to see heards of
mule deer and bighorn sheep, especially in the
lower foothills in the summer months.
In the fall it's easy, not only to
see but to hear the elk. Their bugling during
rutting season is a sound that will not soon
be forgotten if it's a first for you.
